Seeing slowly
in a fast world

রাস্তার আলো, মানুষের ছায়া

Street. Documentary. Wildlife. Festival. Humor. Over a decade of photographs made in the lanes of Calcutta and far beyond — raw moments, unhurried eyes, minimal intervention.

About

Chirantan
Dutta

চিরন্তন দত্ত

I am a Calcuttan by birth who grew up outside the city — and that distance made me love it more fiercely. When I first picked up a camera in 2013–14, street photography was the first language that made sense to me. It still does.

My work sits between documentation and intuition. I try to adopt a documentary approach with minimal processing — the frame should carry the weight, not the edit. I photograph festivals, streets, faces, wildlife, and the particular quality of light in a late afternoon when ordinary things become extraordinary.

I also look for humor — in signs, in coincidences, in the small absurdities the street offers freely to anyone paying attention. Twelve years in, I am still mostly walking and waiting. That part has not changed, and it is still the part I care about most.
